Holiday Villa Hotels and Resorts had recently signed a hotel licensing agreement with a local developer , Borneo Asset Capital Sdn Bhd for the company’s 4- star hotel project in Kota Kinabalu . The hotel, to be branded as Holiday Villa City Centre Kota Kinabalu Sabah is expected to open in end 2013 targeting both business and leisure travellers. The signing marks the first Holiday Villa brand in East Malaysia and it will complement well with eight other Holiday Villa properties in the Peninsula.
Kota Kinabalu, also known by the locals as ’ K K ‘ is 15 minutes drive from the Kota Kinabalu International airport and serves as the international gateway to East Malaysia. The city is situated by the sea against the backdrop of the famed Mount Kinabalu . It is within easy reach of the mountainous inlands and a growing destination due to its proximity to tropical islands and lush rain forest. KK is a city of exciting contrasts as a result of a combination of ethnic group diversity.
The 4-star hotel project is strategically located in a well known tourist site along the main road of Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad Stephens fronting the popular Central Market as well as the South China Sea . The Central Market is opposite a 5-storey shopping mall called KK Plaza and the hotel will be built on top of KK Plaza on a land area of 1.5 acres commencing from the 6th until 11th storey. It is within the commercial areas and accessible to the city’s water front, Wisma Merdeka, shopping malls, vibrant business and entertainment districts.
Upon completion, the hotel will house 364 well appointed guest rooms and suites designed with attractive landscapes and modernity. This includes a lobby and convenience shop, multi-purpose hall, conference and banquet rooms, an all day dining restaurant , a surau (prayer room) ,a roof top swimming pool , parking bays and facilities for disabled guests.
