Holiday Villa Hotels & Resorts, one of Malaysia's leading hotel chains with 16 hotel properties in Malaysia and abroad launched the opening of a new Malaysian restaurant in Kuta, Bali on Sunday 15 June 2008. at 3.00pm.
Named as Lagenda Malaysian Food Garden (Lagenda), the restaurant is located at Wina Holiday Villa Kuta in Bali - the second Malaysian restaurant ('halal') managed and operated by Holiday Villa, after Diwangkara Holiday Villa Beach Resort & Spa in Sanur.
The launching ceremony of Lagenda was officiated in true Malaysian fanfare and colourful galore by His Excellency the Ambassador of Malaysia to Republic of Indonesia, Datuk Zainal Abidin Zain and the Honourable Governor of Bali, Bapak Dewa Beratha , who was represented by Bali's District Secretary, Bapak D Nyoman Yasa.
In their speech, they commended the great efforts of Holiday Villa to promote Malaysian food as the timing was right in attracting the locals and large number of foreign tourists visiting the island.
About 150 guests from the travel trade, corporate, government, airlines, embassies and members of the local and Malaysian media were present at the launch. The 2-hour event showcased the best of Malaysia. Guests were entertained by an 8 member Malaysian traditional dancers specially brought from Kuala Lumpur by Tourism Malaysia. They delighted the guests with a spectacular show of the various cultural dance (joget) of the states of in peninsula Malaysia as well as Sabah and Sarawak. The hi-tea featured a sumptious array of Malaysian buffet spread that included popular Nasi Lemak, Satay , Fried Kway Teow, Laksa, Rojak Buah, Air Batu Kacang, Kueh and many more specialities served on decorative food stalls.
Holiday Villa's Chairman , Dato Azman Shah Harun , Managing Director/CEO Yang Berbahagia Datin Mavis Masri Azman and the hotel's owner, Bapak I Wayan Winada led the VIP guests to perform the 'Tepung Tawar' (a blessing ceremony) at one of the Malaysian food stalls after the presentation of gift mementoes
The 24-hour Lagenda was originally a coffee house called Puspita Restaurant and it was upgraded and fully renovated as a Malaysian 'halal' restaurant offering authentic Malaysian and international cuisine for both lunch and dinner. It can accommodate 150 persons and is nicely decorated with Malaysian décor and a warm dining ambience overlooking the hotel's Mandala swimming pool. The renovation exercise was carried in July 2007 and it is the aim of Holiday Villa to promote Malaysia to the local and foreign tourists in Bali through its food. The restaurant will be having a buffet dinner themed, A 'Taste of Malaysia ' nightly now onwards from 6.00pm at 11.00pm priced at Rp80,000 nett per head featuring popular Malaysian dishes.
